Our name is our mission: B.R.I.D.G.E – Building
Relationships and Inspiring Dialogue through Global Exchange.
We begin building relationships by partnering with other
arts organizations and bringing their vision to what we do abroad. We travel to
other countries and offer theatre programs in their communities, building
relationships with teachers, artists, and government officials around the globe
as we set our plans in motion. Volunteers build relationships with youth
participants by leading intensive playwriting and acting programs, children
build relationships with one another as they come together to create theatre,
and professional actors build relationships with community members while
rehearsing and performing the youth participants’ original work.
We inspire dialogue through the intensive playwriting
programs we offer, where the children learn to put their imaginative ideas into
dialogue format while collaboratively creating their own plays. In a culminating
production, staged readings of their work inspire dialogue within the community,
as the unique voices of the youth are brought out into the world.
Finally, B.R.I.D.G.E provides a unique opportunity for
global exchange by selecting a play written by the youth participants and
bringing it to another country for the children there to perform. Through this
rare forum, communities have a chance to explore the differences and
similarities between other cultures and their own.
Utilizing art and creativity as our common bond,
B.R.I.D.G.E bridges people together, from one side of the globe to the other. |
